Biography

Chris Hopkins loves to make stuff and sees art making as a way of exploring both aesthetic and sociopolitical ideas. As a kid in the 1960s and ’70s, Chris was profoundly influenced by the anti-war movement and has since explored that subject in his personal/political art work. Chris worked for 29 years as a union sculptor on Hollywood movies. Before that he worked as an art director and production designer on independent movies, music videos and TV shows. He has a degree in film production from UCLA, where he created medieval sets and props for his own student film. He is also passionate about design and architecture and has explored those interests in his own functional art work.
